Project information

Brunei Darussalam has varieties of unique local fruits that have potential to be further developed as those of having commercial value and meeting consumers' preferences.

This project investigates the species distribution and genetic diversity of local indigenous fruits to obtain scientific data and information on the status of the richness of potential fruit resources to be exploited and further developed. There will be recordings of 200 fruit species across the sultanate

The project was carried out by CABI working alongside staff from Brunei's Department of Agriculture. Department staff also mapped the location where the fruits are grown and distibution maps have been produced to provide information on soil, terrain and other GIS data.
